Ren is a South Korean actor and singer under Big Planet Made. He's youngest member of K-pop group NU'EST. The group debuted on March 15, 2012, with the single titled "Face". NU’EST’s contracts expired on March 14, 2022 and Ren left PLEDIS Entertainment. He became popular for his androgynous outfits and fashion.

In 2017, Ren participated as a contestant on Produce 101 Season 2 under his full name for a chance to debut in Wanna One, but he was eliminated in the final episode at rank #20. After the show's end, he and the remaining NU'EST members began promoting as the sub-group NU'EST W (consisted of NU'EST members, JR, Aron, Baekho, and Ren, promoting in the absence of Minhyun, who at the time was promoting with Wanna One). NU'EST W disbanded on December 31, 2018, following the return of Minhyun.

A compilation album, Needle & Bubble, was released on March 15, 2022 to mark the group's 10-year anniversary as they officially disbanded the same day. After the group's disbandment, Choi signed an exclusive contract with Big Planet Made Entertainment.

Apart from his idol career, Choi also known for appearing in various musical plays such as “Everybody’s Talking About Jamie”, “Hedwig and the Angry Inch”, “Bungee Jumping of Their Own” and “The Three Musketeers”.

Ren will release his solo debut album in June 2023.
